Auditions

The Women’s Theatre Project hires professional actors of all age, ethnicities, shapes, and sizes. Our shows are written by female playwrights with all female casts. We are the only professional theatre company in the country dedicated to this type of work.

Each year, we budget for approximately 6 Actors Equity contracts under the Special Appearance agreement. Most of our talent lives in the South Florida area. We do not have the capability to provide housing for actors.

The Women’s Theatre Project holds annual season auditions. We also attend the annual Theatre League of South Florida Unified Auditions. As necessary, we hold supplemental auditions throughout the year.

Rehearsals are held daytime and/or evening hours on weekdays and weekends depending upon the scheduling flexibility of the cast. Rehearsals generally begin three weeks prior to opening night.

Our performance schedule is as follows: four performances per week - Thursdays, Fridays and

Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. We add a special 2 pm Saturday matinee on the final weekend of each production.

Performances and rehearsals are at Sixth Star Studio 505 NW 1st Ave. Ft. Lauderdale,FL 33301. Staged readings take place at various locations throughout South Florida.

We also seek professionals in the technical areas of theatre and we encourage the submission of resume and portfolio materials for consideration.
